What is a Silicone Spatula?

A kitchen utensil is used to mix hot and cold foods and scrap bowls and pans, usually made of a flexible silicone head and a wooden or plastic handle, usually called a rubber spatula.

Personally, my Fave Tool (Pictured)

With thick wooden handles, it is easy to grip with wet hands. KitchenAid products are also durable, so I have trusted them for years. This silicone isn't stiff, so that side bowls can be scrapped quickly.

Additionally, their versatility of them is excellent. I can use them to mix cold items in a bowl or sauté hot items in the sauté pan. It was the right size for my food processor when making my Spicy Zhug Feta Cheese Hummus.

Moreover, I was pleased to find it came with two in a set, which allowed for greater flexibility-definitely a bang for your hard-working bucks. You can also choose from a variety of colors. And this pistachio color is stunning.

Tools for the Right Job: Flexibility

Sometimes, wooden or metal spoons and scrappers don't cut it from pouring cake batter to scrapping leftovers into a container. A rubber spatula is much more helpful when you need every drop.

Can you use Silicone Spatulas for Hot Foods?

Silicone spatulas are a game-changer when it comes to cooking hot foods. As someone who's spent years in the kitchen, I can tell you firsthand that the benefits of using silicone over plastic are numerous.

It's my go-to tool when sauteeing; you'll probably notice it in my videos. For starters, silicone is heat-resistant, so you don't have to worry about it melting or warping as you would with a plastic spatula.

As a result, you can use it confidently for all hot foods, from sizzling stir-fry to simmering sauces. When you search for silicone spatulas, it says silicone because plastic ones are floating around in the results.

Silicone Spatulas are Versatile

For Bakers, Line Cooks, Home Chefs

Every baker has their favorite spatula, and these came to a dime a dozen on the hotline. Why? Because they are very versatile. They can be used for hot and cold foods; they are flexible. Chefs like saving their pennies, and when you have a tool to help you, why not? And the silicone lasts practically forever.

Hi-Temp Silicone Spatula - ThermoWorks
4.8

My Review: I've currently switched to the ThermoWorks Hi-Temp Silicone Spatula, and it's been great. The fact that it's all silicone makes it easy just to throw it in the dishwasher and ensures that it will last a long time. It is well made, and the tip is super thin, which is great for scraping; at first, I was afraid it would crack, but it has not yet. Just be careful with it around blades. I made this mistake and have a small snip on mine, but it hasn't cracked around it. So it's still holding well.

I especially use these spatulas when scraping down my food process, such as a blender or KitchenAid Mixer.
