Ingredients with Steps
Simple ingredients, right? I used strawberries, a banana, a thick slice of angel food cake, vanilla extract, sugar, and whipped cream for this shortcake recipe. Mix the sugar and extract with hot water to make a simple syrup, then toss the strawberries and banana.
Alternate the strawberries, sliced bananas, and cake in a cup, creating delicious layers for this dessert, then top with whipped cream. You can put some whipped cream in the middle as well while layering.
Equipment
Small mixing bowl - Used for making the simple syrup and tossing the strawberries and banana for the shortcake. Kitchen Must-Haves - Find other tools I use here.
Storage
This delightful strawberry and banana shortcake does not do well when assembled in the fridge. Only the sliced strawberries and cake will last two days. Therefore, everything else must be used immediately.
Cooking tip
Use the cake to soak up the leftover simple syrup, then assemble your strawberry and banana shortcake.
