  • Note: If you are going to use wooden skewers, make sure they are about 8 inches long, you can cut the extra length with kitchen spears. And soak your skewers ahead of time for 30 minutes.
  • Prep Lemon: On a cutting board, slice the lemon with the ends cut off into less than ¼-thick slices (about six slices) and set aside.
  • Prep Chicken: Slice up the chicken breast into ¼-inch pieces with a sharp knife and place in a medium mixing bowl.
  • Make Marinade: In a food processor, combine onion, garlic, avocado oil, hot honey, and soy sauce and blend.
  • Marinade Chicken: Add the onion-garlic mixture to the bowl with the chicken. Add the chili flakes, garlic and onion powder, paprika, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper, and mix well.
  • Insert the lemon rings into the chicken marinade. Cover with a mixing bowl with plastic wrap or in a resealable plastic bag and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  • Prep Asparagus: While the chicken marinates, cut the asparagus and set it aside.
  • Make Hot Honey Sauce: In a small mixing bowl, combine and whisk hot honey, avocado oil, toasted sesame oil, chili flakes, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper and set aside with a silicone brush.
  • Set Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 390 degrees Fahrenheit with the cook timer for 10-12 minutes.
  • Assemble Skewers: Take and skew two slices of chicken folded in half lengthwise, two asparagus sticks, and one lemon wheel folded in half. Repeat this process two more times. Then finish with two slices of chicken folded in half lengthwise. Refer to the images provided.
  • Cook: Space the skewers out at least half an inch to ensure even cooking. When there are 4 minutes left.
  • Plate Up: Take the honey butter mixture with a clean silicone brush, gently blend the mixture again well and dab the sauce generously on top of the chicken skewers. The heat from the chicken skewers will soften the honey mixture.
  • Finish by sprinkling on the chopped parsley—plate with your favorite side dish.
